By Elena Aldea, Senior Recruitment & Admissions Manager, EMBA-Global and Sloan
We are currently in the process of recruiting for our May 2023 class. If you’re interested in applying, or want to understand more, there are a number of steps you can take to ensure that you are ready to make a competitive application.
Firstly, research the programme! I cannot understate the importance of doing your research and making sure the EMBA-Global programme is the right programme for you and your career aspirations. I would advise you to conduct thorough research into the programme including the format, travel aspects, teaching and cohort. I also recommend researching other programmes and speaking to alumni from multiple schools – our EMBA-Global Recruitment team would be happy to help you get in touch with LBS EMBA-Global Alumni. We will be looking for you to explain why you feel the programme is right for you in your essays and during the interview process, so please make sure you have clear motivations and knowledge of the programme.
Secondly, speak with your family and employers. As part of the application process we do require a letter of company support, in this letter your company needs to outline that they are aware of the time commitments of the programme and that they allow you to be out of the office during this time period. Therefore, it’s important that you have gained your company’s support before you make an application to the programme. We advise that you start talks with your company as soon as possible, as this process can often take longer than expected.
It is also important that you have the support of your family and friends, as the programme involves regular travel between London and New York for core classes, meaning your schedule and time will be stretched. In order to help your family understand the time requirements, involve them in your decision making process, whether this includes them participating in one of our informative Recruitment Events or speaking with EMBA-Global Alumni too.
Look into taking the GMAT, GRE or Executive Assessment. It is a mandatory application requirement that you have taken one of these tests and therefore it is best to do this as soon as possible. We advise that you consider the Executive Assessment as this test is designed with busy senior Executives in mind and therefore is both shorter in duration (90 minutes) and the time required to prepare for the test (GMAC advise 10-20 hours of preparation). We intermittently hold Executive Assessment preparation sessions at our London campus; please get in touch with our Recruitment team at embaglobal@london.edu to find out when the next session is being held and how to register.
And last but not least, send your CV for an informal review. By sending your CV to our Recruitment team we will be able to offer an informal review of your programme suitability, this will allow us to provide you with tailored feedback and advise you concerning your next steps. You can submit your CV here.
